Nursing practice is directed towards supporting individuals’ understandings and adaptations to health conditions. Patient-centered nursing care draws on tested interventions along with insights gained through qualitative methodologies. Research is needed to grasp the influence of personal experiences, behaviors and beliefs on self-care as well as strengthen approaches to engage with families and partner with community resources. I am particularly interested in the strategies that motivate and sustain positive health behaviors.
